I'm Christine Staple Ebanks, and my son Nathan has led me to this place and work.
When Nathan was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, he was only nine months old. I can still remember sitting in that room with the neurologist — because that conversation split my life into two parts: the "before" and the "after." In an instant, I had to let go of the dreams and plans I had imagined and learn to step into a new reality. A reality I didn't understand yet. A reality I wasn't prepared for. A reality that would ask more of me than I ever thought I had to give.
But what I didn't know then was that it was also the beginning of something new. A new reality. A new purpose.
A new dream that was just as amazing, even though I could not yet see it.
Over time, I learned that our journey is about more than medical appointments and therapies. It has shaped me, showing me new strengths and unexpected joys—like hearing Nathan's spontaneous laughter during a therapy session, which became an anchor of hope.
But I also learned something very real along the way: families like ours can't do this alone. That is why I do this work.
If You're Here, You're Not Alone
If you're here today, it's probably because — like me — you've been trying to make sense of this parenting journey while doing the best you can with what you have. Maybe you're tired of feeling like you're figuring everything out on your own, or you've been Googling at midnight searching for answers that actually help. Maybe you've sat in school meetings or waiting rooms wondering, "Am I doing this right?"
It has been my life's work for almost 20 years to create spaces, resources, and support systems that help families like ours feel less alone and more empowered.
This is a space where every parent can finally exhale. Created for mamas like us, along with dads, caregivers, friends, and allies, it embraces everyone on the challenging and rewarding path of raising a child with disabilities.
