I'm Christine Staple Ebanks — award-winning author, educator, and special needs parent advocate. But more than any title, I'm a mother of four, including my son Nathan, who lives with cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities.
I'm not teaching theory.
I've sat in the same IEP meetings — and cried in my car afterward, thinking of everything I should have said. I've sat across from specialists and heard recommendations I knew in my heart would not work for my child, but lacked the confidence to say so out loud. I've felt the frustration of knowing your child better than anyone in that room, yet leaving without your voice being heard.
For more than 20 years, I have navigated these same systems, faced the same fears, and learned — sometimes the hard way — how to find my voice and use it effectively. This course is the resource I wish I'd had from the beginning.
But my work didn't stop with my own family. I've spent years studying the very systems our children depend on — schools, healthcare, social services — asking hard questions about why they so often fail our kids, and what it actually takes to make them work for us. My graduate research in human services focused on building more inclusive systems for children with disabilities and their families. I've taken that research out of the classroom and put it into practical, real-world tools that you can use right now — in your next meeting, your next phone call, your next moment of doubt.
